Job Description


MARKETING AND EVENTS INTERN

The Dubuque Area Labor-Management Council is a non-profit association of employers and unions that provide a forum for people representing labor and management to communicate, educate, and work together for better workplaces and a better community.

The successful applicant will be a competitive, independent "doer" who can take responsibility for getting things done. You must be able detail oriented, handle a fast-paced work environment and be well-organized in your approach to projects. This is a position that requires an assertive problem solver who likes to engage in a variety of activities. You will also get the opportunity to network with many community leaders. If you are an independent person who constantly strives to be the best, we want to talk to you.

Summary:

This position will give the intern hands-on experience with a small non-profit organization.
 

Primary Responsibilities:
• Assist in organizing training programs, banquets and social events for our general, associate members and our community advisors
• Make calls to membership list to confirm participation in events.
• Assemble mailings for events
• Gather information for our website
• Other duties as needed

Requirements:
• Junior or Senior standing preferred
• Knowledge of labor and/or management helpful
• Strong communication and writing skills
• Phone etiquette and strong interpersonal skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel (InDesign helpful)
• Strong work ethic and confidence

Qualifications:

Strong organizational skills, problem solving skills, experience with Word and Excel, graphic design skills helpful.

Details:
• Internship is open to Business, Marketing, Communications, or related fields
• One position available each for Fall/Spring/Summer
• 15-20 hours/week (flexible based on schedule)
• Office hours are 8 am - 5 pm
• Stipend offered upon successful completion of the internship
