About SCORE:
SCORE is a national program of volunteers, sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The program matches volunteers with small businesses that need expert advice. These men and women business executives, whose collective experience spans the full range of American enterprise, share their management and technical expertise with present and prospective owners/managers of small business. SCORE is a non-profit organization and the volunteer counseling arm of the US Small Business Association.
Our Mission:
SCORE Dubuque is dedicated to service Tri-State area businesses both new and existing.
General outline of Internship:
The SCORE intern will assist volunteers with general office duties during regularly scheduled office hours on Monday and Thursdays. The intern will also participate in counseling sessions with clients and potential clients, and participate in chapter and board meetings.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
-Assist volunteers and observe client counseling sessions
-Input volunteer and client data on electronic data management systems
-Attend Chapter meetings and Board meetings
-Answer telephone and refer telephone calls to assigned volunteers for further follow-up.
-Establish and maintain records for volunteers and clients
-Establish and maintain volunteer and client records filing system
-Assist volunteers in maintaining the office
-Update and maintain the website
Required Skills:
-Ability to work with a variety of volunteers.
-Be familiar with PC computer, word processing, spreadsheets, and power point software.
-Possess high level of communication skills.
Educational Background:
Primary - Business
Secondary - Counseling/Coaching
Time Commitment:
Mondays & Thursdays - 10am -12 noon; Board meetings and Chapter meetings (1-2 hours) on 2nd and 3rd Mondays of the month at 9am.
This internship offers the opportunity to remain with SCORE for an extended period of time, up to 2 years, but is compensated based on each semester worked.
Reports to:
The intern will report to the SCORE Executive Committee.

Compensation:
