Job Description

Job Title: Programmer Apprentice

 

Organization Position: Reports to Systems Administrator.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• People - None other than self

• Data - Web site content including text and images. Assigned  directories and related sub directories and their contents. Archives of all client data residing on web servers and on-site file server

• Things - Assigned workstation and its contents. Issued keys and building/computer room access card. Assigned software and associated documentation. Web servers and associated hardware and software.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Programming & Development: Under the direct supervision of the Systems Administrator and programming team, provides appropriate programming and database development support for Mission Creative and its clients.
2. Customer Service: Provides a high level of customer service through timely, effective, and accurate communication.
3. Research: Conducts research on Internet related hardware/software as directed by supervisor.
4. Technical Support: Assists in providing Internet services technical support/training for Mission Creative and its clients in producing and managing Internet content.
5. Other: Assists with other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Programming & Development:

• Assists other programmers in determining the appropriate design, creation, testing and implementation of ColdFusion templates and applications, relational databases, Javascripts, and other programming required to support internet design.

• Makes edits and updates to current projects; makes edits and revisions based on feedback. 

• Thoroughly tests documents for the integrity of the HTML and all programming coding, functionality, integrity and efficiency of all database applications to ensure proper operation of all Web site functions.

• Personally generates an average of 75% of available defined working time as client billable hours.


2. Customer Service:

• Develops and maintains positive long-term customer relationships.

• Regularly checks for and responds promptly to all internal and client communication.

 

3. Research:

• Conducts research on Internet related hardware/software as directed by supervisor.

• Stays informed on latest programming development trends.

 

4. Technical Support:

• Assists in providing Internet services technical support/training for Mission Creative and its clients in producing and managing Internet content.

Knowledge:
• Two/Four year degree, or working towards a two/four-year degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrable experience and knowledge of HTML, Javascript and ColdFusion or similar programming language (such as Java, ASP or PHP).
• Familiarity with relational databases and ability to use Microsoft Access.

DETAILS:
• 20 hours/week
• 6 month part-time (20 hrs/wk) position, with opportunity for full-time hire
• Paid position - $8/hour
