Institutional Planner

Job Details:

The Office of Institutional Research at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a Institutional Planner with an anticipated start date of May 1, 2017.  This position is responsible for a wide range of activities involving data analysis, reporting, and predictive modeling in academic and administrative areas. The analyst prepares and produces a variety of regular and ad-hoc reports and publications to meet external reporting requirements such as regional and specialized accrediting agencies, Delaware Study, etc.  Additional reporting needs include internal requests for information to support administrative decision-making, grant writing efforts, and assessment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in statistics, information analysis, social science or a closely related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 3 years of related work experience in institutional research or similar field that requires data analysis and modeling
  • Working knowledge of research methods and techniques used in collecting, compiling, and organizing data and information
  • A working knowledge of analytical and statistical principles and techniques
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, to handle sensitive materials with discretion and tact, to present ideas and information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to utilize large databases, data mining and reporting tools such as Business Intelligence, SPSS, R Studio, or Tableau
  • Experience completing external surveys. (ie IPEDS, CUPA, Delaware Study,ASEE)

 Responsibilities:

  • Collect, analyze and report institutional data
  • Completion of external ad-hoc reports
  • Assisting in the development of an enrollment focused predictive model
  • Work closely with Information Technology and functional areas to ensure accuracy and integrity of data
  • Apply statistical analysis and interpret results via presentations or written reports
  • Respond to faculty and staff requests for institutional information to support grant writing efforts
  • Develop and maintain predictive models
  • Survey administration and analysis
  • Support campus initiatives to improve retention and graduation rates
  • Contribute to educational efforts involving data organization and analysis
  • Serve on campus committees
