Alliant Energy is looking for a highly organized, customer service oriented coordinator to work within our Fleet Division in Dubuque, IA.  Strong phone skills and computer knowledge will be critical for this position. 

As a Fleet Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service - via phone – to our internal garage staff and our external vendors.  You will also handle the maintenance and upkeep of our fleet vehicles throughout our service territories in Wisconsin and Iowa. 

The Coordinator works regularly within our computerized information management systems for thorough recordkeeping, analysis, evaluation and report generation on vehicle maintenance and repair history.  You will also need to ensure compliance with preventative maintenance, vehicle inspections and emergency response procedures. 

This position works Monday through Friday but does have on call duties every 4 to 5 weeks.  We will provide a company phone in the event you need to handle after hours calls for breakdowns and responses to emergency storm situations supporting truck permitting. 

Position requires:
  • A Bachelor’s degree AND two years of technical and/or professional experience, OR, in the absence of a degree, six years of experience working in the customer service and/or fleet industry with emphasis in supporting recordkeeping and reporting requirements

Preferred qualifications:
  • Knowledge or experience in basic automotive/truck repair
  • Basic knowledge of the operating cost of fleet vehicles
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management)

*Job Responsibilities
  • Acts as a liaison between Fleet Central and the Fleet Service Centers for all vehicle issues including breakdowns and emergencies. Acts as a department representative for supporting the vehicle accident process.
  • Reviews contracted maintenance repair work to ensure conformance to contract specifications and quality workmanship; provides first-line vendor negotiations, including sensitive information, to maximize cost efficiencies of the fleet operation, approve repairs and payments, and resolve problems.
  • Maintains records of repairs/maintenance communication between vendors and the fleet department.
  • Supports enforcement of mandated Department of Transportation (DOT) programs (i.e., Federal Highway Administration programs, commercial drivers licensing, driver qualifications) in order to comply with state, local, and Federal regulations.
  • Manages maintenance practices and operations, and approval of work. Determines appropriate solutions to various operational and administrative problems in areas such as preventative maintenance, maintenance timelines, vehicle availability, and other fleet related areas.
  • Administrates various Fleet Central processes including the Fleet E-Auction vehicle and equipment disposal process, PCard implementation for Fleet Services, and Fleet Fuel Procurement Program.
  • Disseminates vehicle warranty campaigns to the field operators and Fleet Service Centers. Tracks and monitors the campaign progress.
  • Participates in rotating weekend/evening on-call activities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
*Job Qualifications
  • This position requires a four year degree from an accredited college or university and two years of technical and/or professional experience; in the absence of a degree six years of related experience is required.
  • Experience in basic automotive/truck repair preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of fleet budgeting preferred.
  • Knowledge of state, local and Federal codes and regulations as they relate to titling/licensing preferred.
  • Knowledge of state and federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations including driver qualifications, International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA), International Registration Plan (IRP), and related programs preferred.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management) preferred.
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment.

*Note: For positions located within company territory that supply natural gas to customers, this job is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug and alcohol testing (CFR 49, Parts 40 and 199), and is subject to drug testing according to said regulations.
