The Distance Learning Center is hiring a Recruiter (Associate Outreach Specialist).  The full-time, 12-month academic staff member will work with prospective distance students to promote application to UW-Platteville’s Distance Learning academic programs.  Additionally, the recruiter is expected to follow up on pending and partially complete applications to encourage admission into the programs.  The recruiter must be able to engage in moderate travel and to work 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Travel and/or office hours may extend into evenings and/or weekends.  The position is physically located on the UW-Platteville campus in Platteville, Wisconsin.  The position is an annual appointment with the period of employment beginning on June 11, 2018.  The annual salary is $36,790.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out a recruitment plan for UW-Platteville’s Distance Learning Center which may include email, direct mail, phone, and other means of communication.
  • Initiate and respond to correspondence with prospective distance students.
  • Enter daily communication codes and notes into database associated with the follow-up of all assigned prospects and applicants.
  • Assist with activities aimed at increasing distance student enrollments.
  • Develop, implement, and track follow-up communication with prospective distance students.
  • Represent UW-Platteville Distance Learning Center at various job/education fairs, regional/national professional conferences, and marketing events (this will require moderate travel).
  • Meet defined goals by communicating with and motivating prospective distance students to complete the admissions process.  Prospective distance students may include international students, active duty military, and/or incarcerated students.
  • Develop appropriate forms, communication, and tracking mechanisms.
  • Serve as a liaison between various on-campus & external partners and the Distance Learning Center.
  • Student follow-up for admission materials (transcripts, resumes, applications).
  • Provide information on course options and enrollment process to applicants not yet admitted and/or non-degree seeking students.
  • Serve on Marketing/Recruitment Committee and other committees as deemed necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish rapport and identify learner needs.
  • Ability to communicate and work with a diverse population
  • Detail and goal oriented.
  • Collaborative and independent work.
  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve.

Preferred:

  • Two years’ experience serving adult populations in the areas of customer service or higher education/distance education recruiting and/or student services.
  • Familiarity with student information and relationship management systems, for example, PeopleSoft.
