McGraw-Hill Education, the leading provider of print and digital educational materials for grades PreK-12, has an immediate opening for a Director, Project Management for K5 reporting to the Sr. Director of the Portfolio Management Office (PMO).  The PM Directors are the supervisors of the Project Managers assigned to the portfolio, responsible for training, mentoring and governance over PM methodology. 


Critical Functions:
 
Partner with Business Leaders to serve as Operational Leader for Strategic Initiatives

• Serves as Operational Leader to the Portfolio VP/Director
• Ensure that investments and initiatives in project management are aligned with business strategy and priorities.
• Works with business unit leaders to develop project and program resourcing strategies to ensure optimum support for projects and for the day-to-day operational activities.
• Ensures adoption and implementation of project and program management methodology and oversees project and program management coaching.
• Engages with cross-functional business leaders to objectively analyze the organization's ability to absorb change.
• Financial Management and Tracking of Budgets.
• Communicates status of the program portfolio to all stakeholders in business units.
• Collaborates with business unit leaders, and service managers to develop and manage project and program budgeting and cost estimation approaches, resource allocation, and reallocations.
• Prioritizes programs and projects based on changing functional needs, resource capacity constraints, risk exposure, and interdependencies.  Monitors value metrics to inform decisions that maximize returns across enterprise projects and programs.
• Monitors the delivery of business objectives and client experience for PMO services.
• Annual strategic planning process / monthly portfolio prioritization.
• Serves as arbiter within the Portfolio to ensure key MHSE stakeholder (Leadership, Marketing, Sales and Product) objectives are achieved throughout the product development process


PMO Development

• Help drive PMO development and coach PMs in fidelity to the approach.
• Lead efforts to develop a best in class PM organization that attracts quality experienced PMs from any industry.
• Process Development and Improvement - End to End- Defines principles and standards to harmonize project management methodologies.
• Work with diverse stakeholders to enhance existing processes to create a lean model for product inception, development, launch, and support.
• Participate in the cultural change to ensure our processes strike the right balance between rigor, replicability, adaptability, and the freedom to innovate
• Transformation Initiatives as assigned.
• Provides the head of the PMO with input into the continuing evolution of the PM methodology to ensure it remains flexible and responsive to the needs of our business
