Job Description: Clarke University is currently recruiting for a Compass Experience Coordinator responsible for creating and planning experiences that support a holistic development of students and fulfill graduation requirements. Where other institutions offer “general education,” Clarke offers the Clarke Compass – an integrated experience that involves experiential and course-based learning. This position is essential in developing, implementing, and managing events and experiences that meet Clarke Compass outcomes, including but not limited to: meeting with students, creating events and managing them in the event tracking software, tracking attendance, troubleshooting/tech support, monitoring student progress, and maintaining a database of outcome completion. Specific duties include: establishing and managing the oversight of software associated with offering and tracking Clarke Compass experiences; coordinating student experiences that involve civic engagement and participation in community outreach; assisting with coordination of and record keeping for semester-long study abroad experiences; assisting students in the development, understanding, and description of co-curricular transcripts; coordinating and offering various educational workshops; gathering data, producing reports; collaborating with Clarke faculty, staff, and students, as well as community partners, to implement civic action; and performing other duties as assigned. This position may require the candidate to problem-solve in terms of human interactions. The successful Compass Experience Coordinator is skilled in quickly establishing interpersonal relationships as well as in determining what is needed for student and programmatic success. The coordinator functions with minimal active supervision. Note: Position may require some evening and weekend hours.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Experience with the integration of curricular and co-curricular student outcomes at the college level is essential, and previous experience is preferred. Superior written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, as well as previous experience supervising others is desired. A high degree of computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office, databases, and web-based software is a plus. Outstanding time management and organization skills required. Able to manage multiple projects and accomplish critical tasks on time despite interruptions.
