The Health Department is charged with implementing the four health protection programs that are required for certification by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Those programs are water quality, food sanitation, private sewage disposal, and communicable disease. In addition, the agency administers Immunization and Lab Draw Programs, as well as Animal Control and other family health related programs. The Health Department also receives federal funding for Emergency Preparedness.
The Health Department is responsible for community-wide health assessment and planning. It is governed by the Board of Health, which assures that the health concerns of the County are being addressed.
Public Health Administrator
The Jo Daviess County Health Department; providing public health care services and environmental health services, currently has a Public Health Administrator position available.
The Public Health Administrator position requirements are listed in the position description located on the Jo Daviess County website. This position requires excellent leadership and communication skills, knowledge of finance and budgeting, computer skills, ability to manage professional staff and the ability to work independently. The Public Health Administrator will coordinate with Jo Daviess County and its representatives to assure cooperation and consistency to the extent possible between the Board of Health and Jo Daviess County.
The Public Health Administrator position reports to the Jo Daviess County Board of Health. The starting salary for the position is $69,992 plus a full County benefit package.
