CIVIL RIGHTS SPECIALIST

 

The City of Dubuque, Iowa (population 58,000) invites applications for the position of Civil Rights Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for accepting, reviewing and investigating complaints of discrimination in employment, public accommodations, housing, credit and education and other areas within the city organization and community at-large and performing internal and community education activities. The successful candidate will possess experience in the investigation of discrimination complaints; experience working with a diverse workforce and population; graduation from an accredited college or university, with major coursework in law, public administration, human resources, psychology or related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the essential knowledge, skills and abilities.  The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated ability to follow a management style that is input oriented and values equity, problem solving and the development of partnerships and a desire to be part of an organization that values service, people, integrity, responsibility, innovation and teamwork.  The City offers an annual salary range of $53,580 to $69,992, effective July 1, 2019, and an attractive benefit package which includes twelve weeks of paid parental leave.  Please submit an employment application to the City of Dubuque Human Resources Department, City Hall, 50 West 13th Street, Dubuque, Iowa 52001-4864 by June 14, 2019.  The Human Resources Department may be contacted at (563) 589-4125 or citypers@cityofdubuque.org.
