ABOUT OUR HOSPITAL
UnityPoint Health Finley Hospital is a 126-bed community hospital. We employ more than 800 full-and-part-time employees. Work hours will be evenings, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, for 80 hours per pay period, and as needed. You will be required to flex to other shifts as needed. There is a holiday and weekend rotation.
The Sterile Processing department is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment.
The SPD (Sterile Processing dept.) Tech is responsible for following proper procedures for cleaning and disinfecting instruments, equipment and carts. The Tech performs reprocessing of instrumentation according to healthcare standards and performs duties as required in a safe environment considering the chemicals and equipment required to perform the job. Other duties include restocking, labeling and maintaining inventory; collecting and distributing instruments and trays; and cleaning of IV pumps along with other facility medical equipment.
High School diploma/GED is required. Knowledge of instrumentation and/or sterilization processes would be beneficial, but not required. Complete on-the-job training is provided for this position.
