The City of Dubuque has operated under the Council/Manager form of government since 1920. Under this form, legislative responsibility rests with the City Council and administration authority is given to a professional City Manager.
The City Council is responsible for setting overall policies and goals for the City and is comprised of the Mayor and six members who are selected in a non-partisan election for four year terms. WATER PLANT OPERATOR
The City of Dubuque (population 58,000) invites applications for the position of Water Plant Operator. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing technical work in the operation of the water treatment facility and associated water systems, including, but not limited to, pumps, valves, tanks, towers and generators and performing skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds and equipment. The successful candidate will possess some experience in the operation of a water treatment facility and in the repair and maintenance of equipment, grounds and buildings, including experience as a building or mechanical trades apprentice; experience working with a diverse workforce and population; a high school diploma or its equivalent, supplemented by college level coursework in chemistry or related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the essential knowledge, skills and abilities. The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated ability to follow a management style that is input oriented and values equity, problem solving and the development of partnerships and desire to be part of an organization that values service, people, integrity, responsibility, innovation and teamwork. The City offers an annual salary range of $50,024 to $56,326, and an attractive benefit package, which includes twelve weeks of paid parental leave.
