Under supervision of RN, provides assistance in caring for patients by implementing the philosophy, objectives, standards of care, policies and procedures within the Scope of Service of the Maternal Child Service area. Supports the delivery of family centered care to obstetrical, neonatal, and pediatric clients and their family units. Includes activities of daily living, vital signs, infant cares; provide physical and emotional support. Performs clerical and receptionist duties, performs computer activities, and maintains medical records and legal documents. Transmits necessary information to applicable state agencies. Inventories, orders and stocks supplies to maintain par levels and processes appropriate equipment repairs and maintenance. Assists with technical procedures such as setting up for simple diagnostic procedures, such as circumcisions, and performing simple diagnostic procedures, including newborn hearing screening. Transports clients to and from ancillary care areas, as appropriate. Promotes a safe environment for families. Utilizes universal precautions in general care delivery. Maintains effective communication skills to achieve optimal family outcomes.
- High school graduate/GED equivalent.
- CNA or other health related certification preferred.
- Previous clerical/nursing assistance experience desired.
- Computer experience required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology required.
- Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) will be required within 30 days of hire and every 2 years thereafter.
