This is a 48 hour position working mostly a 0600 to 1200 shift with an occasional 1400 to 2000 shift as needed. The position requires being scheduled every third weekend and department rotation of holidays and night shift call. Willingness to work a night shift.
The registered respiratory therapist is responsible for providing basic and advanced Respiratory Care services to neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy, objectives, standards of care, and procedures of Respiratory Care Services. The registered respiratory therapist plans, implements, and evaluates the effectiveness of Respiratory Care. In addition, the registered respiratory therapist is expected to serve as a resource to physicians, peers, and customers and participate in orientation, in-service education, departmental quality assurance activities, and staff leadership roles within Respiratory Care Services. The registered respiratory therapist assumes direction for Respiratory Care activities in absence of the Respiratory Care Director/Coordinator.
Must be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. Must be registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care or within six months of hire. Must be licensed as an RCP in the State of Iowa. Experience in another health care setting desirable, with critical care experience preferred. Maintain current BLS, NRP, and Mandatory Reporter certification. Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 5 years thereafter.
