About the job: Area Residential Care is excited to offer a newly created full- or part-time opportunity for a dedicated nurse that wants to make a difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities! You will support our individuals by overseeing their medical care, developing a knowledge of applicable regulations and agency policies, and building positive relationships with families/guardians and fellow employees.

Wage: $22.32 - $23.69 / Hour

Job Type: Full or Part Time

Schedule: First Shift, Monday-Friday (Flexible Times)

Location: Multiple Locations (Headquartered at 3355 Kennedy Circle, Dubuque, IA 52002.)

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • RN/LPN currently licensed to practice in Iowa
  • Requires excellent verbal, written and computer skills and strong organizational skills
  • Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must develop positive, cooperative relationships with agency staff, medical staff, and individuals’ parents/guardians.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs and occasional lift up to 50 pounds
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets agency authorized driver criteria
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, etc..)

Qualified candidates must present a valid driver’s license and possess a driving record that meets agency authorized driver criteria.

The selected candidate is required to successfully pass a background check and complete a pre-employment physical and drug screen as a condition of employment. In accordance with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services mandate, candidates for employment must provide evidence of their first COVID-19 vaccine prior to the start of employment, or successfully request a medical or religious exemption to this requirement. The second vaccine is required within 30 days unless exempted.

Who We Are

Area Residential Care is a private, non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization, created in 1968 by a group of parents and other interested parties. Its mission is to empower people with intellectual disabilities to achieve their highest quality of life. From its inception, Area Residential Care’s purpose has been to provide community-based services for persons with intellectual disabilities. The organization has grown over the past 40 years to serve an average of 250-275 people with disabilities annually; providing residential, vocational, and day services in Dubuque and Dyersville communities.

Through a variety of community-based residential and vocational programs, Area Residential Care helps people with disabilities become active, participating members of the community. Giving people with disabilities choices about where and how they live, work and socialize with their non-disabled peers is the essence of Area Residential Care’s purpose.
