Textbook Center Assistant Manager

Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is currently accepting applications for our Textbook Center. This position will function as the Assistant Manager of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s Textbook Center with the primary goal of distribution and collection of course digital material and textbooks to all enrolled students for every instructional term. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, working directly with students/customer relations, accounting, inventory control, textbook sales (current and discontinued) and training of staff. The Assistant Manager reports to the Textbook Center Manager. Wage range is $15.73-$20.39 depending on qualifications and experience. 

Responsibilities:

Fiscal Responsibilities 

-Supervise the control of customer accounts, used book sales, refunds, and all cash receipts. 

-Process Weekly bank deposits for Student Financials. o Assist with updating student accounts in PASS for Student Financials (Cashier’s Office) for un-returned books, fines, and damages. 

-Cancel textbook student charges and update student accounts as appropriate 

Inventory Control Responsibilities

-Utilize inventory management using the inventory database system for Platteville and our two branch campuses. 

-Receive, inspect and verify purchase order quantities. Report any discrepancies to vendors, arrange for return or replacement of merchandise.

-Manage space utilization of the textbook shelves.

-Understand the life cycle of textbooks. Process books from acquisition, active use, retirement, and final disposition.

-Responsible for final disposition of textbooks, either through used book vendors, the BookNook or online vendor sales.

-Act as primary contact with used book vendors. Determine best pricing for discontinued books sold to used book vendors and students.

-Coordinate physical inventory counts.

-Requisition, receive and record transactions for supplies.

-Helps to maintain inventory for Branch campus locations.

-Additional duties as assigned.

-Be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations; including necessary training and drills. 

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

High school diploma/GED

Prior experience in customer relations.

Strong organizational skills.

Clear verbal and written communication skills.

Familiarity with computer software.

Willingness and ability to learn to use University database systems.
