Loras College was founded in 1839 by the Most Rev. Mathias Loras, first Bishop of Dubuque, who established St. Raphael Seminary to educate young men for the priesthood, but with the expressed intention also of providing an opportunity for higher education to the citizens of the area. The college has functioned under several names (St. Raphael Seminary, Mt. St. Bernard, St. Joseph College, Dubuque College and Columbia College), finally adopting its present name during its centennial in 1939.
Loras is a Catholic liberal arts college dedicated to the total development of the student. The Francis J. Noonan School of Business at Loras College invites applicants for two (2) full-time faculty positions in Marketing, available August 2021. The usual teaching load is 21 hours/credits per academic year. Courses taught will depend on the candidate’s areas of expertise, and School and College needs. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in Marketing teaching courses such as Principles of Marketing, Marketing Analytics, Sales Management, Consumer Behavior, Marketing Ethics, Public Relations and International Marketing. Strong interest in developing new coursework in Marketing or new program development. Flexibility and interest in teaching other business and general education courses is desirable. Candidates with a terminal degree or significant industry experience may also have the opportunity to teach in the College’s graduate analytics program. The successful candidate will be an individual interested in and committed to undergraduate teaching.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Related terminal degree preferred. M.B.A. or Master’s degree in Marketing or related field required. College-level teaching experience preferred. Industry experience desirable.

THE NOONAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS: The Noonan School of Business was formed in 2017, through the generous donation of an anonymous donor and the School is named for Francis (Frank) J. Noonan, a longtime and dedicated faculty member who served the College for 43 years. The School of Business is comprised of 17 full-time faculty, approximately 4 adjuncts, and home to the most majors on campus. Current major offerings include Accounting, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Finance, Marketing and Sport Management with various related minors included.

Dubuque’s population is approximately 60,000 and its nineteenth century architecture is woven into limestone bluffs and provides a picturesque backdrop to the river landscape. Many residential and commercial areas have been designated as historical districts to preserve Dubuque’s unique heritage. Its strong education base supports numerous cultural activities, and in addition, there are sporting events, shopping facilities, schools, and churches that are convenient to its residents. The climate has marked seasons with a comfortable summer, cool spring and fall, and a winter that encourages a variety of sports that have in recent years attracted a growing tourism industry.
