The Dubuque County Courthouse was built in 1891. The Courthouse serves as the center of County Government offices, and is a dominant landmark in the downtown Dubuque area. It is located at 720 Central Avenue in Dubuque.

Sunnycrest Manor is seeking a part time Food Service Worker, who performs responsible semiskilled work assisting in the preparation and serving of meals for large groups; acts as Mandatory Reporter as defined in the Code of Iowa; does related work as required.

 Work is performed under the immediate supervision of a Food Service Supervisor.

TYPICAL TASKS:

• Opens kitchen, begins preparation of basic breakfast items;
• Provides general assistance in the preparation of serving of meats, vegetables, fruit, soups, sandwiches, salads and other food sin accordance with menu;
• Prepares special diet plates;
• Washes pots, kettles, pans and other cooking utensils;
• Operates dish washers and vegetable peelers and other mechanical equipment;
• Cleans tables, dining area and work surfaces;
• Sweeps and mops;
• Transports and stores supplies;
• Carries out trash and garbage;
• Prepares coffee, nourishments and other basic foods;
• May serve as cook if qualified and assigned;
• Performs and monitors quality assurance standards and protocols;
• Follows proscribed protocols for safety and infection control;
• Performs related tasks as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Some knowledge of the preparation and serving of food products in an institutional setting; general knowledge of methods of cleaning and maintaining food service areas, utensils and equipment in a sanitary and safe manner; ability to follow oral instructions and understand simple written terms; ability to learn the physical arrangement of the food service routine within a short period of time; ability to meet the public effectively; ability to lift, carry, push and pull objects related to the preparation and serving of foods.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the tenth grade and previous food handling experience is desirable.
