MercyOne Medical Center is a not for profit Catholic hospital serving the tri-state area of Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin since 1879.  MercyOne – Dubuque has 263 beds while MercyOne – Dyersville is a critical access hospital with 25 beds and a 40-bed nursing home.

The Lead Retail Pharmacist accepts the responsibility and accountability for the accurate control of and appropriate dispensing of all prescription and non-prescription medications, as required by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy.  Ensures appropriate counseling of patients regarding their medications.  Supervises the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy.  Leads colleagues in standards of quality of care, inventory control, and intra and interdepartmental communications. Assists with selecting, developing, and maintaining a team of competent staff. Holds self and team accountable for achieving the highest level of quality of care, customer service, and employee satisfaction, and recognizes the contribution for desired results. Driven to meet and exceed customer expectations.

• Previous leadership experience is preferred. Previous practical experience and/or certification in areas related to practice site are preferred.

• Preferred certification in Immunization Administration.

• Completion of the requirements for a B.S. or Pharm.D. in Pharmacy at an accredited college of pharmacy is required.

• Must be a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Iowa in good standing or eligible for registration.

• Maintains licensure in additional states as required based on contracted facilities outside of Iowa.

• Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
