Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position 

 

This position is eligible for a flexible work schedule arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

Your Responsibilities

 

 

As an Embedded Software Engineer at John Deere Dubuque Works, you will be part of a global team of Embedded and Electronics developers working to meet the technology demands of our customers.    As an engineer, you will work and learn in a Scrum team environment, designing new and innovative solutions. 

 

In addition, you will have the opportunity to:

 

  • Design implement and test software features to support one of many products.
  • Work in an Agile and Scrum team environment
  • Assist in the resolution of complex technical issues
  • Participate in the team planning process of new products and/or major improvements to existing products.

What Skills You Need

 

  • Engineering experience gained through relevant internships, educational projects and/or practical experience.
  • Experience or education in software development methods and standards
  • Experience or education in C or object-oriented design and programming in C++

  • Experience with IDEs or code editors, such as Microsoft Visual Studio or Visual Studio Code
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability and experience working in a self-directed mode
  • Strong, demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% (both domestically and internationally)

What Makes You Stand Out

 

 

  • Experience in Agile methodologies
  • Experience with Linux based systems, UML, and additional coding languages such as Bash, JavaScript, Python, and Lua
  • Experience developing with GUI development for embedded applications such as QT/QML or Crank Storyboard
  • Experience Model Based Software Design, preferably Mathworks (Simulink/Stateflow/Real-Time Workshop)
  • Knowledge of electronic circuits and components, such as Microcontrollers, FETs, EEPROM/Flash, etc., with the ability to read schematics and data sheets
  • Experience with CAN communications protocol and the J1939 standards
  • Experience within an automotive, agricultural, or industrial machine setting

Education

 

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

 

  •  Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science

The John Deere Dubuque Works is one of the key facilities in Deere & Company's Construction and Forestry (C&F) Division. The Dubuque Works manufactures backhoe loaders, crawler dozers, and skid steer loaders for the construction industry and knuckleboom loaders and tracked feller bunchers for the forestry industry.  The Dubuque Works also serves as the Center of Excellence for the C&F Division in the areas of Product Engineering, Product Verification and Validation, Supply Management, and Product Support which includes the Dealer Technical Assistance Center.  From a manufacturing perspective, the core competencies of the factory include plate and sheet cutting, machining, welding, paint, and assembly.
