Job Overview

At Clarke University, everything we do is focused on making an impact on students so they can positively impact the world. For students, it means a place where more than facts are studied – it means new ways of thinking are explored. For faculty and staff, it means more than just coming to work every day – it means truly collaborating across the university to put student success first. It also means living and working in a thriving city named one of the “most livable” small cities in the country and one of “Best Green Places” in the country.

The Department of Education seeks a full-time faculty position with content expertise in special education. This faculty position, with rank open and dependent upon degree and prior teaching experience at the college level, will begin August 2022. This renewable three-year appointment has the possibility to transition to the tenure-track at a later date, depending on faculty contribution and university need. The ideal candidate should have a doctorate in education or a related field and a minimum of three years teaching in a K-8 setting with special education endorsement and experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have theoretical and practical application of special education instruction. Applicants who are ABD and highly experienced master’s level candidates with intent to pursue a doctorate will be considered.

The Education Department offers students the opportunity to teach and study in our Professional Development School (PDS) programs, which include junior and senior level interdisciplinary courses in local public and private schools. Majors and areas of study include elementary and special education and/or reading endorsement.

To apply, please upload a letter of application; three letters of recommendation with contact information; unofficial graduate transcripts; curriculum vitae; and a teaching philosophy at http://clarke.applicantpool.com/jobs. Confidential letters of recommendation can be emailed to HRletters@clarke.edu. Review of applications will begin immediately.
