Job Overview
At Clarke University, students study more than facts and theories; they explore new ways of thinking. Everything we do is student-focused. For faculty and staff, this means more than coming to work every day; it means collaborating across the university to put student success first. It also means living and working in Dubuque, IA, a thriving city named one of the “most livable” small cities in the country and one of “Best Green Places” in the country.
Clarke University invites applications for an assistant professor of Communication to start August 2022. The successful candidate will be hired on a three-year renewable contract with the possibility of transitioning to a tenure-track contract at a later date. The new faculty member will teach both lower- and upper-division undergraduate courses in media studies, media writing, professional presentation, public relations, and communication law.
Candidates who hold a doctorate in Communication, Media Studies, or related field are preferred. Although faculty at Clarke focus primarily on teaching, professional activities and service to the department and university are also expected.
The new assistant professor in Communication will join the Business, Sport Management, Computer Science, Communication, and Accounting department. The department has ten full-time and several part-time faculty members who offer a supportive environment for academic and professional development. Undergraduate major offerings include Business Administration (with emphases in Management, Finance, and Marketing), Accounting, Sport Management, Computer Information Systems, Communication, and Digital Media Studies. Salary and benefits are competitive.
To apply, please upload a letter of application; three letters of recommendation with contact information; unofficial graduate transcripts; curriculum vitae; and a teaching philosophy at http://clarke.applicantpool.com/jobs.
