Title: Advanced Research and Development System Engineer - 52510

Your Responsibilities

As an Advanced Research and Development System Engineer working for John Deere Construction & Forestry Division in Dubuque, IA you will be leading technology based system development in the area of automation/controls.  In addition, you will:

  • Utilize the Technology Development Process (TDP) to design, develop, and deliver solutions in the area of automation/controls
  • Collaborate with John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG), C&F Embedded Systems, C&F Product Groups and others to design and deliver demonstrated technology based systems to the Product Delivery Process (PDP)
  • Breakdown projects into meaningful milestones and execute projects to schedule
  • Apply knowledge of company products, policies and practices to deliver technology solutions to our customers that improves their business in a profitable way
  • Analyze assignments and determine engineering specifications which must be fulfilled to deliver technology solutions that meet customer application requirements
  • Document the design solution requirements for building of mule machines/prototypes for proof of concept and for transition to PDP
  • Develop and/or execute test or analysis plan for proof of concept and product verification and validation
  • Collaborate and communicate with stakeholders on system design concepts, status and decision making.

What Skills You Need

  • 3 or more years of vehicle design experience of controls, software, or perception sensing systems
  • Experience working with suppliers, internal and external partners to develop and deliver effective solutions to address problems
  • Proven ability to creatively solve problems
  • Experience with Enterprise Product Development Process (EPDP)
  • Experience in leading and executing projects
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical issues

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience programing embedded systems
  • Experience working with off-road vehicle applications and systems
  • Experience designing and developing control systems
  • Experience with DSM modeling or model based software development and Matlab/Simulink tool set
  • Systems engineering experience
  • Proven ability to write requirements
  • Knowledge of sensor solutions for close loop feedback
  • Master's degree in Science in an engineering discipline

Education (or equivalent work experience)

Bachelor of Science degree in Software, Electrical, Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering or equivalent.
