Peer Support Specialist

Hillcrest Family Services, Washington, IA Dubuque, IA

1. Understands and demonstrates the ability to welcome persons and families to the Wellness Center and programs.
2. Develops meaningful relationships with persons in recovery, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
3. Provides peer support to persons in recovery and family members.
4. Role models good self care, coping skills, self-help strategies, and the regular use of wellness tools.
5. Demonstrates a knowledge of and commitment to recovery philosophy.
6. Demonstrates a commitment to continued education on wellness, recovery, and peer support.
7. Participates in required Peer Support Team Meetings, staff meetings, workshops, and training as determined by supervisor.
8. Participates regularly in at least one wellness activity and support group.
9. Demonstrates a firm understanding of recovery-related advocacy.
10. Completes all required paperwork and computer data entry according to project standards in a timely manner.
11. Maintains regular contact with supervisor and actively seeks input from supervisor and other available resources.
12. Adheres to the Peer Support Specialist Code of Ethics and Wellness Center Safety Contract.
13. Demonstrates respect, non-judgement and compassion toward others.
14. Communicates appropriately and clearly to supervisor and other staff members.
15. Demonstrates ability to follow Wellness Center procedures.

5. Supports recovery and wellness of IHH members.
6. Encourages program participation.
7. Demonstrates a knowledge of and commitment to recovery philosophy.
8. Demonstrates a commitment to continued education on wellness, recovery, and peer support through 1:1 coaching and group support.
9. Participates in required Team Meetings, staff meetings, workshops, and training as determined by supervisor.
10. Conducts group classes.
11. Provides resource and linkage information to families.
12. Demonstrates a firm understanding of recovery-related advocacy.
13. Participates in care coordination activities and case discussions for IHH members.
14. Maintains regular contact with supervisor and actively seeks input from supervisor and other available resources.
15. Communicates appropriately and clearly to supervisor and other staff members.
16. Completes all required paperwork and computer data entry according to project standards in a timely manner.
17. Answers the telephone in a professional manner, directs calls appropriately, takes messages.
18. Understands and demonstrates superior customer service.
19. Creates and maintains a WRAP for work. Communicates and delivers self-care with teammates and supervisor as necessary.
20. Demonstrates the ability to be organized and flexible and assumes other duties as assigned by Program Manager or designee.
