Dubuque Finley Hospital
This is a part-time position working 24 hours per pay period at the Urgent Care – West Clinic. Work hours will be 8a-8p, every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday
The Clinical Concierge CMA is responsible for assisting the provider with front office and back office duties in the outpatient management of patients and completing or assisting with front office duties on a rotating basis. This position is a vital part of the office team that cares for patients in the clinic setting working under the direction of a physician. This position works closely with the physicians, other clinical staff, and front office staff. Work situations are a variety of clinical functions within a clinic setting requiring knowledge and integration of available standards, resources, and data; discretion; good judgment; diplomacy; decision making; and a customer service attitude. Acting as the patient advocate the Clinical Concierge has continuous contact with physicians, patients, patient families/ significant others, community agencies, and patient care staff and management.
•Report to clinical coordinator or practice administrator
•Perform nursing procedures under supervision of physician, physician assistant, or nurse practioner.
•Assist physician, nurse practioner and physician assistant in exam rooms
•Greet and welcome patients immediately upon arrival to the clinic.
•Ensure patients are accurately registered in EPIC.
•Complete the paperwork or assist in on-line registration as needed based on patient needs, abilities and desires.
•Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart
•Perform phlebotomy and lab testing as needed
•Assist and perform other procedures, including EKG
•Perform all x-ray examinations within the scope of limited radiology tech certification, as ordered by provider
•Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician, nurse practioner or physician assistant
•Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed is available in patients’ medical records prior to escorting them to the exam room.
•Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required
•Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
•Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and physician assistants
•Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)
•All other duties as assigned by clinical coordinator or practice administrator
•Once the patient has completed the clinic portion of their visit escort and check out the patient.
•Assist patient in completing the patient satisfaction survey if needed at the time of check out.
Clinical Concierges must have knowledge of:
•Healthcare field and medical specialty
•Grammar, spelling, and punctuation
•Knowledge of EPIC EHR
•Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
•Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
•Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections
•High school diploma; some college preferred
•Medical assistant certification/registration from an accredited national organization
•State of Iowa Permit to practice limited radiography must be acquired within one year of employment. The organization will fund one Limited Radiology course and one subsequent examination fee. Additional course work and/or exam fees will be the responsibility of the employee.
