The City of Dubuque has operated under the Council/Manager form of government since 1920. Under this form, legislative responsibility rests with the City Council and administration authority is given to a professional City Manager.
The City Council is responsible for setting overall policies and goals for the City and is comprised of the Mayor and six members who are selected in a non-partisan election for four year terms. The Mayor is the chief elected official and formal representative of the City. The City of Dubuque invites applications for the position of Transit Dispatcher/Scheduler. The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling rides and dispatching drivers within the city limits of Dubuque for fixed route, minibus and contract services. The successful candidate will possess considerable customer service experience and experience in the operation of transit communication and scheduling equipment and software; a high school diploma or its equivalent, supplemented by college level coursework in sociology, psychology, logistics or related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the essential knowledge, skills and abilities. The successful candidate will also possess a demonstrated ability to follow a management philosophy that is input oriented and values problem solving and the development of partnerships and a desire to be part of an organization that values service, people, integrity, responsibility, innovation and teamwork. The City offers an hourly salary range of $19.19 to $21.82 and an attractive benefit package.
