Research/Compliance Manager

Job Details:

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is hiring a full-time, 12-month academic staff member to work as a Research/Compliance Manager with UW-Platteville’s Distance Learning Center.  This position will oversee adherence to copyright and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements for programs administered by the Distance Learning Center.  In addition, the incumbent will assist with research on other regulations that could influence distance education.  The incumbent will oversee research projects associated with various aspects of assessment, student services, marketing, and faculty development. This position is physically located on the UW-Platteville campus in Platteville, Wisconsin. This position is an annual appointment beginning May 22, 2017.  The work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  The annual salary is $48,333.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • 3-5 years of experience in higher education or public administration.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to review documents and agreements; analyze laws and regulations.
  • Established experience developing relationships with external agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft suite.
  • Proven experience and/or training in research methods.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ethical behavior.
  • Recognized experience with developing and organizing documentation
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with varied departmental units and personnel

 Preferred:

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Proven experience working with ADA requirements.
  • Proven experience working with copyright compliance and training.
  • 5-7 years of work experience in higher education or public administration
  • Verified experience working with online education.
  • Demonstrated experience working with statistical packages.
  • Confirmed experience with university research processes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of research and written proposals for presentations and publications

 Responsibilities:

  • Participate in developing research proposals for distance education
  • Assist in developing, interpreting and writing results of department research studies.
  • Assist with literature reviews and other research activities in the department.
  • Present results of research studies at events and conferences.
  • Assist research authors with publication of studies.
  • Provide training to staff about research protocols.
  • Assist staff with developing papers and conference proposals.
  • Develop documentation for research protocols.
  • Oversee compliance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act in courses offered at a distance.
  • Oversee compliance with the Higher Education Reauthorization Act as it relates to distance education.
  • Research and analyze current and future state and federal regulations that impact distance education and communicate with staff regarding the regulations and potential impact.
  • Provide training to faculty and staff in distance education on copyright and other compliance areas as appropriate.
  • Develop documentation for copyright compliance for distance education.
  • Coordinate Accessibility Compliance such as ADA and those regulations related to closed captioning (e.g. Section 504, Section 508, CVAA, WCAG).
  • Monitor and make recommendations on department website and communications in relation to ADA and copyright compliance.
  • Monitor and communicate Program Integrity Rule (PIR) updates to appropriate parties (e.g. marketing coordinator, student services, leadership, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the assessment coordinator on documentation development and collection, and closing the assessment loop.
  • Provide guidance on Institutional Review Board (IRB) process and facilitate IRB submissions for the department.
  • Communicate with department personnel on research and/or compliance matters.
  • Serve on appropriate departmental and university committees.
  • Be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations, including necessary training and drills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
