Academic Department Associate

Job Details:

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, located in Southwest Wisconsin, is currently recruiting for an Academic Department Associate for the Mechanical Engineering Program. The salary for this position is $17.00 per hour plus excellent fringe benefits. A six-month probationary period is required. The normal working hours for this position are 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Office management experience
  • Proficiency in budget preparation, analysis, and administration
  • Proficiency in software programs, including Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Congenial and positive attitude

 Preferred:

  • Two year associate’s degree or two years of college
  • Experience with UW-System software databases, such as WISDM and Business Intelligence

Responsibilities:

Provide professional administrative assistance to department chair, faculty, staff and students in the mechanical engineering program; develop and maintain program budget, supervise student employees; record minutes at program and departmental meetings; maintain student folders; maintain and organize office supplies; assist with expense reports; maintain and update ME graduate employment information and conduct 5 year surveys; organize and produce department newsletter; prepare purchase requisitions, and hold and maintain program credit card.

Department Information:

The mechanical engineering program at UW-Platteville is one of the 25 largest BS-degree granting mechanical engineering programs in the United States. There are currently twenty-three faculty associated with the program, with three of the faculty at remote locations (UW-Sheboygan and UW-Fox Valley).  The size of the program offers unique challenges that require creative and innovative thinking, as well as familiarity with the latest software and technology.  For more information about the program, please see: http://www.uwplatt.edu/mechanical-engineering
