Addiction Counselor

Substance Abuse Services Center, Dubuque, IA

Addictions Counselor

Master's degree preferred in social work or other counseling field desired but will consider Bachelor's degree with experience. Successful applicant will work as part of a clinical team. Supervision toward professional licensure (LMSW, LMHC) available. Beginning salary is based on education, licensure, and experience with a full benefit package including health insurance, retirement plan, holidays, and paid leave. Must be able to work up to 2 nights per week. No weekends or holidays.

 Applicants must exhibit knowledge and skill in the following clinical performance domains:  

  1. Clinical Evaluation 
  2. Treatment Planning 
  3. Referral 
  4. Service Coordination 
  5. Counseling (Individual, Family, and Group)
  6. Client, Family, and Community Education 
  7. Documentation 
  8. Professional and Ethical Responsibilities

Maintains case files using an electronic medical record.

 Maintains client confidentiality in accordance with the Federal Confidentiality Regulations, applicable federal and state laws, and HIPAA Regulations.

 Maintains open communication with referral sources, family members, outside therapists, and other significant people involved in a client’s treatment process.
