Director of Mission Integration and Regional Ethics

Under general direction of the President and in collaboration with the MHN Vice President / Chief Mission Integration Officer, ensures the advancement of Mercy Dubuque and Dyersville and Mercy Health Network's strategic mission priorities with all Mercy Dubuque and Dyersville ministries to include integration of the Core Values and Mission, Ministry Formation, Ethics, Spiritual Care and Spirituality in the Workplace and maturation of our Catholic identity across the health care continuum. Participates fully as a member of the local Senior Leadership Team is responsible for the executive oversight of the Spiritual Care Department. Embraces the standard work philosophy for the work of Mission as a way of supporting one MHN culture with focus on creating unity of vision, purpose, and alignment across our ministries. Oversees the ethics program/function providing ethics consultation, education and resources for clinical, social and organizational ethics. In addition, this position commits 30% time to leading the ethics strategy for Mercy Health Network in collaboration with MHN VP/CMIO and serving in a consulting role to MHN member facilities and ethics services. Master's Degree in Catholic Health Care Ethics, required. Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 5 years thereafter. Unique competencies required include formation in the Catholic tradition and understanding of other faith traditions (or willingness to attain). Those candidates with no or limited theology would be invited to Aquinas' Mission Leaders certification program. Commitment to the mission and values of the organization, knowledge and experience in addressing contemporary health care delivery systems and clinical and organizational ethical issues facing the field, the ability to inspire and motivate others to be committed to the organization’s mission, values, vision, and goals, adult learning skills, and knowledge of and commitment to the community benefit ministry. Additionally, must be spiritually grounded and pursuing a regular spiritual practice. Organizational competencies, including capability in establishing mutually beneficial relationships with diverse groups of people, facilitation and team skills, change leadership, and capacity for strategic influence. Able to recognize the need and hold space for difficult conversations. Skilled at building, maintaining and repairing relationships. Demonstrated successes in planning and execution. Able to act independently. Track record of effective interpersonal skills including maturity, creativity and a high energy level. Strong sense of equity and fairness in ambiguous situations. Solid skills in oral and written communications and an ability to resolve difficult interpersonal problems. Ability to facilitate teams in seeking and asking the right question before seeking answers. Ability to lead transformational change from grounded-ness in identity. Have a strong ability and capacity regarding organizational savvy. Ability to understand and analyze data and knowledge of process improvement/Six Sigma/Lean methodologies.
