Mercy Medical Center is a not for profit Catholic hospital serving the tri-state area of Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin since 1879. Mercy – Dubuque has 263 beds while Mercy – Dyersville is a critical access hospital with 25 beds and a 40-bed nursing home.

Under supervision of an RN, provides assistance in caring for patients by implementing the philosophy, objectives, standards of care, policies and procedures within the Scope of Service of the Birth and Maternal Health Center. Supports the delivery of family centered care to obstetrical and neonatal clients and their family units on a continuum throughout the birth year, including activities of daily living, vital signs, infant cares, and provides physical and emotional support. Performs clerical and receptionist duties, transcribes and implements physician orders, performs computer activities, and maintains medical records and legal documents. Inventories, orders and stocks supplies to maintain par levels and processes appropriate equipment repairs and maintenance. Assists with technical procedures such as setting up for simple diagnostic procedures, such as circumcisions, and performing simple diagnostic procedures, including newborn hearing screening. Transports clients to and from ancillary care areas, as appropriate. Promotes a safe environment for families. Utilizes universal precautions in general care delivery. Maintains effective communication skills to achieve optimal family outcomes.
High school graduate/GED equivalent. CNA or other health related certification preferred. Previous clerical/nursing assistance experience desired. Computer experience required. Certification in CPR required. Knowledge of medical terminology required.
