Contract Production Supervisor

Provide supervision and direction of 5-35 employees in the production and finishing of various sizes of product. Assist Production Manager in directing the operation to meet production schedules while maintaining efficient operations, quality standards, standard costs, and employee safety.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Model the eight Core Capabilities to achieve service excellence, meet and exceed organizational objectives and support fiscal responsibility. 

• Supervision (60%)
o Understanding and enforcement of Company policies, procedures and safety regulations.
o Understanding and enforcement of the collective bargaining agreement while developing a spirit of cooperation and good morale. 
o Provide management skills in maintaining orderly production activity, routine communications, performance appraisals, job orientation, and training, motivating, counseling and administering discipline. 
o Provides support to all direct reports and staff to ensure that they have all of the necessary resources to perform their duties. 
o Analyze and resolve work problems and assist workers in solving work problems. 
o Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. 
o Develop teamwork and group spirit in a way that successfully carries out management's intentions and directives. 
o Maintain accurate time reporting to insure the integrity of labor distribution and payroll.

• Operations (40%)
o Understand and demonstrate safe work practices. Focus on maintaining a safe work environment. 
o Organize and direct production, finishing and shipping activities as assigned.
o Working knowledge and understanding of production process, materials, and equipment flow. 
o Basic knowledge of alkaline cell systems, assembly methods, processes and equipment. 
o Working knowledge and understanding of raw materials; their use, handling and storage.
o Initiate and recommend methods of programs for elimination of variances in efficiency, scrap, rework performance and downtime. 
o Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
o Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Profile

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong computer skills with the emphasis on Excel, SAP, and MS Office.

• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
