Grant Researcher/Writer

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is hiring a Grant Researcher/Writer in the Division of Alternative Delivery Systems.  The full-time, 12-month academic staff member will coordinate and execute all activities associated with grant research and writing in the Division of Alternative Delivery Systems.  The position will work with a variety of individuals in the Division to obtain grants which support the work of Distance and Continuing Education.  The position is physically located on the UW-Platteville campus in Platteville, Wisconsin.  The position is an annual appointment with the period of employment beginning February 5, 2018.  The annual salary is $48,000.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the Division’s established grant process and calendar
  • Research, identify, engage, and cultivate prospective government, corporate, and foundation funding sources using systems and resources including, but not limited to Foundation Search, Federal Registry, LexisNexis, Foundation & Corporate Funding Advantage, and other electronic and print sources.
  • Write grant proposals and submit as determined by the grants calendar and grant reporting requirements.
  • Manage multiple grant timelines while seeking new grant opportunities and delegate the growing grants schedule.
  • Work closely with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) and the Division’s administration to strategize the specific purpose, actions steps, and the amount of grant proposals/applications.
  • Represent the Division by proactively collaborating with academic and campus partners to understand and articulate needs, goals, and opportunities.
  • Maintain effective relationships with corporate and foundation partners.
  • Collect and summarize funded program/project outcomes and budget expenses and submit timely reports to funders.
  • Provide input and facilitate communications with the Foundation Office, as needed.
  • Strategically integrate and leverage alumni relations and communications activities to cultivate additional grant opportunities.
  • Be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations, including necessary training and drills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Demonstrated experience as a grant researcher and writer
  • Demonstrated successful experience in grant research and writing
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, strong organizational skills, project management skills, and strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience in writing persuasive, clear, concise, and visually attractive proposals
  • Ability to meet deadlines and simultaneously manage multiple projects

Preferred:

  • Experience working in higher education
  • Understanding of Distance and Continuing Education concepts
  • Experience in or knowledge of project management
