Human Resources Generalist

Flexsteel Industries Inc, Dubuque, IA

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

Partners with Corporate Human Resources Manager and Business/Functional leaders to develop and implement human resource initiatives and policies that support the achievement of business goals. Communicates and consults on all areas of human resources including compensation, benefits, staffing, organizational development, employee relations, unemployment benefits, employee development and performance management in alignment with common human resources strategies and processes.   

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Collaborates with the General Manager to translate current and future business goals and develops initiatives and tactics to meet business objectives in alignment with overall human resource strategies and processes.

Partners with leadership to identify skill requirements needed to meet business objectives. Drives the recruitment, pre-screening/testing, selection, process to ensure compliance with Federal & State compliance of ADA, FMLA, EEOC - AAP, Title VII Non-Discrimination, Non-Discrimination of Veterans - USERRA, Homeland Security E-Verify, OSHA, Privacy Acts, Identity Theft, DOT & FMCSA. Extends all employments offers and administers the orientation process for new associates.

Manages and administers performance management, training and development programs for the site. Provides coaching and counseling on the need for continuous communication and alignment on objectives and expectations between supervisors and associates. Assists supervisors with disciplinary action as necessary. 

Partners with leaders on planning and executing robust succession planning in line with corporate HR strategy to ensure on-going business readiness.   

Maintains compliance with Company policies and procedures. Investigates and resolves conflicts by coaching and counseling on human resource matters. 

Maintains the current labor contract rules pertaining to payroll, job status or related areas. Advises general plant supervisors of past practices when requested. 

Develops and implements employee relations initiatives including recognition and engagement activities aimed at creating a safe and inclusive working environment that aids in the effectiveness and retention of all associates. 

Assists Plant leadership with the administration of the Safety, Health and Compliance Programs.   Coordinates the safety inspection audits.  Conducts accident investigations and enforces safety policies. 

Assists general manager in representing Dubuque Operations on contract policy changes and additions. Actively participates and supports the General Manager in contract negotiations, labor relations and grievance resolution. 

Leads change management, policy and contract requirements that support an inclusive and engaged workforce. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE DESIRED

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field is required.

3+ years or HR experience is required, in a Union Environment preferred. 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.

Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook is required.
