The Division of University Relations at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a Director of Events Services.

The Director of Event Services will provide leadership, professional expertise, and direction in the execution of high quality events and ensure the Chancellor, University Relations division, and campus wide priorities are reflected in the events. Through collaborative planning with key personnel, the Director will lead the Event Services team in creating affairs that maximize impact in critical areas of donor stewardship and recognition, government and community relations, alumni relations, etc.

Under the supervision of the Vice Chancellor for University Relations, the Director of Event Services is responsible for maximizing the utilization of the facilities at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The Director will guide multiple departments and event service areas, provide vision and strategic direction, and engage the surrounding community to develop new revenue opportunities. The director will supervise the Assistant Director for Event Services, the Performance Services Manager, the Event Planner, and other full and part time staff.

The Director of Event Services will work closely with the Chancellor, Division of University Relations, UW-Platteville Foundation, and other constituents. The Director will interact with distinguished guests, visiting dignitaries, UW-Platteville Foundation board members, and the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents. Qualified candidates should be creative, deadline driven, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

 Qualifications:

• Master Degree in related field or equivalent experience
• 5-7 years of leadership experience:
   o Provide vision, motivation and guidance to faculty, staff, and volunteer    leaders.
   o Provide training, coaching, and counseling to ensure that employee performance expectations are clearly communicated.
   o Set strategic direction for the department of Event Services
• 5-7 years of management experience including:
   o Demonstrated project management, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage details of multiple and complex projects.
o Demonstrated ability to set priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of activities or job duties, and effectively carry out event goals with large event coordination.
   o Demonstrated experience in event services including, but not limited to managing large, small, high profile, and less-formal events for diverse and distinguished guests.
• Fiscal and budget management knowledge and experience, including:
   o Ability to establish, implement, monitor, and analyze financial data and reporting systems.
   o Ability to prepare, manage, and monitor event budgets, anticipating costs of production, technical, and promotional needs.
   o Ability to learn and understand University policies and procedures, campus financial and acquisitions systems, and to adhere to internal control principles and systems.
   o Knowledge of audit compliance.
• Communication skills
   o Excellent communication skills sufficient to express ideas and agreements concisely and persuasively, both orally and in writing, to a variety of constituencies.
