What you will do:
The Solar Communications Specialist completes the final step in every solar array project. Specialist will evaluate existing internet connectivity and design a communication solution specific to each solar array project used for internet monitoring. Once commissioned, the Specialist will test, monitor and troubleshoot the array’s communication utilizing a cloud application. With internet-based monitoring, energy output data is transferred to a router, making it available through an online interface for customer convenience.
Upon commissioning, Specialist will describe system, review owner’s manual and field any general questions of the project, with customer.
Specialist will need to learn quickly when facing new problems; analyze both successes and failures for clues for improvement while be willing to experiment and be willing to try new things to find solutions.
Expertise with network systems, such as IP voice, local area network (LAN), wireless local area network (WLANs), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems or segments of network systems
Knowledge of Routers, Firewalls, Switches, DNS, and DHCP
Ability to troubleshoot and evaluates existing networks to improve communication performance.
Knowledge of MS Office Suite and Windows OS
Monitors automated system alerts and end user’s incident and outage reporting. Troubleshoots and resolves network problems whiles always working to improve communication performance.
Identifies the causes of communication problems using diagnostic testing software and equipment. Documents, tracks, monitors and reports various network platform issues and metrics.
Provides direct customer support. Creates or revises user instructions, procedures and manuals, as needed. Documents communication support activities, help desk requests and resolutions. Provides support related to communication.
Creates and automates reports on uptime, bandwidth usage, server utilization, and other key metrics.
Develops and distributes communications for technical and business teams regarding outage notifications. Provides status on repair and/or restoration of network services.
Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues, direction. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the organization.
Moving about, climbing in a properly safe environment, maneuvering in tight spaces (i.e. pulling cables in attic). Enters and locates internet connection. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Communicates with Customers, Vendors, or Employees via telephone, in person, and email. May present information to small or large groups.
This position requires travel. Projects are typically located within 150 miles of Dubuque Iowa.
