Mercy Medical Center is a not for profit Catholic hospital serving the tri-state area of Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin since 1879. Mercy – Dubuque has 263 beds while Mercy – Dyersville is a critical access hospital with 25 beds and a 40-bed nursing home.
Mercy offers a full range of acute care services, including invasive cardiology and open-heart surgery, Level II trauma center, Level II regional neonatal intensive care unit, general and orthopaedic surgery, psychiatric services and inpatient physical rehabilitation. The Director of Home Care is a member of the Mercy Medical Center leadership team and is responsible to provide clinical and administrative management in the Home Care Department. Will allocate available resources to promote efficient, effective, safe and compassionate care based on current standards of practice. Will support a shared leadership philosophy. The Director of Home Care will ensure an effective departmental structure, inclusive decision-making, and professional models of care that promote excellent patient services. Will facilitate the development of strong relationships among nursing personnel and with others throughout the organization and the community. Will carry out the mission, vision, values, evidence-based practice and standards of Patient Care Services and of Mercy Medical Center as a whole.
The Director of Home Care is accountable for the environment in which clinical nursing is practiced. Will enhances the practice environment, consistent with Magnet hospital criteria, encouraging staff accountability for their own practice, and recruiting and retaining colleagues with the appropriate values, experience, education and background. Will create a learning environment that is open, respectful and promotes the sharing of expertise to promote the benefits of health outcomes. The Director of Home Care is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the defined service area(s) and collaborates with the Chief Nursing Officer and others in organizational planning, innovation and evaluation.
BSN required, Master's Degree strongly preferred (required within 3 years of hire). Active nursing license in the State of Iowa required. Home care nursing experience required. Minimum of 3 years management experience. Must understand various aspects of home care and related services and demonstrate a mature knowledge of the issues affecting the home and community care environment.
