The Activities Coordinator plans, organizes, promotes, and conducts the program of activities, which help stimulate the social, physical, recreational, and intellectual development of the patients as an integral part of their plan of care and in a manner that allows the patient to attain and maintain his/her highest practicable level of functioning.
Consistent with the American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice, the Activities Coordinator is a member of the Mercy Medical Center healthcare team and assists the registered professional nurse in the delivery of holistic, compassionate, individualized, and effective patient care by assisting the patient with a varied activities program focused on the needs, interests, and potential of the patients.
Customers include: tenants, families/visitors, physicians, physician assistants, nurses and nurse practitioners, case managers, representatives of third party payers, representatives of referring agencies, interdepartmental and intradepartmental staff, vendors and volunteers.
- Minimum of a high school education or GED equivalent is required.
- Certification in a 75-hour CNA certification program is preferred.
- Successfully completed a state-approved training course and received certification as an Activity Coordinator is preferred
- Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 5 years thereafter.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) will be required within 30 days of hire and every 2 years thereafter.
Computer experience preferred or willingness to learn as needed for job performance.
