Dining Services Assistant 

Specific duties and responsibilities

  1. Preparation of food.
    1. Reads, notes and initials log book before preparation begins.
    2. Reviews menus, worksheets, and recipes.
    3. Prepares meals, following planned and approved menus and diet orders, and uses standardized recipes.
  2. Sets up and serves food.
    1. Sets up food delivery cart and equipment as required.
    2. Ensures food to be served is according to established portion controls.
    3. Delivers meals to various areas at designated times.
  3. Prepares for each successive meal.
    1. Checks food supply needs for the next meal.
    2. Prepares products for use, including thawing, slicing, pre-mixing, etc.
  4. Ensures proper inventory and storage supplies.
    1. Checks in food and supply deliveries using proper established procedures.
    2. Shelves and rotates products in storeroom.
    3. Stocks food in coolers and freezers.
    4. Ensures the cleanliness and proper sanitation for all storage areas.
    5. Assists in taking weekly inventory.
    6. Reports food and supply needs to supervisor before run outs occur.
    7. May assist in the purchasing of food and supplies as required.
  5.  Ensures clean up of dining areas and kitchen.
    1. Checks dining areas to ensure soiled dishes, etc., have been removed.  Picks up any remaining dishes, and returns them to the kitchen.
    2. Washes dishes, pots and pans, and all other equipment used in the preparation and serving of meals.
    3. Gathers and properly disposes of and recycles refuse and containers.
  6. Assists in the monitoring and maintenance of equipment and kitchen.
    1. Conducts periodic refrigerator and freezer temperature checks and records readings following established procedures.
    2. Reports equipment problems or needs to the supervisor.
    3. Performs routine cleaning activities in the kitchen.
  7. Prepares, serves, and provides clean up for special events and meetings.
  8. Attends meetings and training sessions as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Part-time Shift Schedule as followed:

Week 1:  W, Th, F  4:30am-12:30pm
Week 2:  M 4:30am-12:30pm, Tu,Th, F 4:30am-9:30am Sat& Sun 5:00am-1:30pm
