The University is currently seeking a qualified individual to assume the role of Assistant Science Lab Manager for the Math and Sciences (including Biology, Chemistry, and Math). This is an 8 month (August - December and January – May) position at 20 hours/4 days per week. Working closely with the Science Lab Manager and Department Chair, the successful candidate will assist with: setting up laboratory experiments, maintaining equipment, ordering and keeping an accurate inventory of chemicals and supplies, disposing of chemical waste properly, maintaining a safe, clean and orderly lab space. Training will be provided as needed. The candidate will also provide general office support to the department chair, maintaining departmental forms and records and assisting with correspondence, semester planning, project work, and data collection and analysis.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology or related field is preferred. An Associates degree in Science plus experience working in a science lab will also be considered. The ability to read and follow directions, sort, organize and pay close attention to detail is essential. The successful candidate must have demonstrated experience with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
