The John Deere Dubuque Works is one of the key facilities in Deere & Company's Construction and Forestry (C&F) Division. The Dubuque Works manufactures backhoe loaders, crawler dozers, and skid steer loaders for the construction industry and knuckleboom loaders and tracked feller bunchers for the forestry industry. The Dubuque Works also serves as the Center of Excellence for the C&F Division in the areas of Product Engineering, Product Verification and Validation, Supply Management, and Product Support which includes the Dealer Technical Assistance Center. From a manufacturing perspective, the core competencies of the factory include plate and sheet cutting, machining, welding, paint, and assembly.
The John Deere Dubuque Works is one of the most innovative and productive facilities of its kind. From an Engineering perspective, techniques such as virtual reality and rapid concepting are used to assist in the design process. Our manufacturing facilities use state of the art techniques and equipment to produce products including CNC machining centers and a Manufacturing Execution System (MES). As an entry-level Electrical Product Engineer for the John Deere Construction & Forestry division, located in Dubuque, IA, you will design, develop verification plans and execute test or analysis plans for electrical components, sub-systems, & systems which meet customer needs. In addition you will:
o Provide problem solving of electrical issues on new product development and current production
o Have design responsibility for electrical hardware design including electrical components, switches, sensors, etc.
o Participate on Product Delivery Process (PDP) teams to deliver customer solutions
o Engage in applying product verification and validation tools with PDP teams
o Encourage early interaction of both customer and supplier input to team activities
o Participate in print reviews and design reviews of new products

What Skills You Need
o Electrical engineering experience performing analysis, testing and/or design work (through internships, education or practical experience)
o Experience with electrical components/systems (through relevant course work, practical work experience
o Demonstrated effective communication (written and verbal) skills
o Demonstrated strong problem solving ability and willingness to attack emerging issues, determine root cause, and drive corrective action
o Demonstrated ability to work in self-directed manner
Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% (both domestic and international)
What Makes You Stand Out
o Experience with electrical wire harness circuits, routing, and schematics and other electrical/electronic technical drawings
o Experience in roles that required a working knowledge of electrical components such as batteries, starters, alternators, rocker switches, relays, solenoids, sensors, actuators, and connectors
o Experience troubleshooting vehicle electrical systems
o Experience with 3D modeling tools (such as: CREO, ProE or Solidworks, AutoCAD )
o Experience working with suppliers in the application of electrical components
o Experience working in a cross functional team environment
o Experience with 3D Modeling tools for harness routing (such as: ProE-ProCable and Mentor Graphics-
Education (or equivalent work experience)
o Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering discipline
o Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering is a plus
