Medical Associates Clinic offers several locations from which to seek medical care, including facilities at 1500 Associates Drive, 1000 Langworthy, and 1940 Elm Street in Dubuque, Iowa; as well as facilities in Bellevue, Cascade, Dyersville, Elkader, and Monona, Iowa; Cuba City, and Platteville, Wisconsin; and Elizabeth and Galena, Illinois.
Medical Associates Health Plans is hiring a part-time Patient Services Representative to answer phones, emails, and perform office tasks in our Patient Services Department, a 24-hour patient assistance line. During your shift, you will work closely with a small team to triage phone calls, set up and cancel appointments, reporting, update doctor schedule, fax documents.
Hours: Part-time, averaging out to approximately 43 hours per pay period.
Schedule: Flexibility required, primary schedule is as follows:
Week 1: Sun 8A – 8P, Thurs 4P – 12, Fri 4P-12
Week 2: Mon – Wed 4P - 12
Week 3: Sat 8A – 8P
Week 4: Sun 8A – 8P, Thurs 4P – 12, Fri 4P-12
Week 5: Mon – Wed 4P - 12
Week 6: Sat 8A – 8P
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Perform clerical tasks within the Patient Services department to support Medical Associates Health Plan and Clinic staff. These may include but are not limited to answering, directing and triaging telephone calls, sending and receiving clinical information to/from providers, completing requested tasks, determining medical necessity for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) supplies requested for patients based on Medicare guidelines, and maintaining physician call schedules.
Perform clerical tasks within the Patient Services department to support Medical Associates Health Plan and Clinic staff. These may include but are not limited to answering, directing and triaging telephone calls, sending and receiving clinical information to/from providers and completing requested tasks, determining medical necessity for DME supplies requested for patients based on Medicare guidelines, and maintaining physician call schedules.
Contact providers/office staff as necessary to complete requested tasks including but not limited to: paging, hospital and outside provider consults, physician access requests, and need for additional documentation for DME requests.
Participate in the training of new staff. Maintain and up-to-date orientation manual as appropriate.
Assist in creating policies and procedures to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in the department.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience: From three months to one year of similar or related experience.
Education: Equivalent to a high school education.
