Design Studio Manager

Position Summary:

The Division of Professional Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is seeking a Design Studio Manager to join its team.  This position oversees/supervises/manages the Design Studio.  The Design Studio supports faculty and subject matter experts to facilitate the development of educational materials for delivery in a Web-based environment.  This position is also responsible for coordinating and operationalizing all aspects of the online Faculty Academy.  Physically located on the UW-Platteville campus in Platteville, Wisconsin, this position is an annual appointment with a period of employment beginning as soon as possible.  The annual salary is $62,500, depending on qualifications and/or experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all staff assigned to the Design Studio.
  • Serve as the project manager for the online course development/revision process.
  • Facilitate course design meetings on a regular basis to discuss status, andragogy, and potential technology changes.
  • Communicate course development/revision statuses to all affected stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the resolving of conflict or areas of concerns between Design Studio staff and other stakeholders involved in a project.
  • Participate in the search processes for staff that this position will supervise.
  • Coordinate training for staff that this position will supervise.
  • Responsible for the coordination and operationalization of the online Faculty Academy, including reviewing and updating faculty training resources on an annual or as needed basis.
  • Coordinate training of online faculty on an ongoing basis via the online Faculty Academy.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures, which support sound instructional design practices.
  • Facilitate all assessments related to course development/revision quality improvement.
  • Responsible for reviewing and updating course development standards on an annual basis.
  • Serve as the instructional course design liaison to the Program Coordinators, and attend meetings as needed.
  • Serve as the online course design liaison to the Corporate Training Center.
  • Serve on departmental or divisional committees, as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, project management, or related andragogical field required.
  • 5-7 years of professional course development, instructional design experience, or experience serving as a project manager.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment developing instructional learning material.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to resolve conflict among numerous stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience working with various learning management systems (LMS).
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of instructional design methods and practices.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of software applications as they apply to instructional design and production.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • 3-4 years of demonstrated experience supervising staff.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with educational media development.
  • Experience with Canvas.
  • Experience in effective pedagogical and andragogical application of technology to teaching and learning, with a strong educational technology background.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of creativity and quality.
