Clinic RN/LPN or Certified Medical Assistant-Urgent Care East

Overview

We are looking for a RN/LPN or Certified Medical Assistant to work in our Urgent Care Clinics on a PRN basis. Per the PRN policy you will work (1) 12 hour shift per month, (2) weekends per year and (1) holiday per year. You can pick up more hours if you would like. 

 

Our Urgent Care clinics, following the concierge model, are a combination of comfort and care. We offer free beverages in our waiting rooms while our patients wait to be seen by one of our clinical team members. We are able to treat a variety of illnesses and minor injuries. In addition, our staff are also trained in urine drug screens, worker's compensation visits, and other occupational health needs. Our Urgent Care clinics are open 365 days/year - including all major holidays - from 8:00 am-8:00 pm and we accept any type of walk-in patient.

Responsibilities

The Clinical Concierge Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, evaluating, and delegating the delivery of skilled patient care. The RN is directly accountable and responsible for the quality of care provided to patients and has the authority to direct care, provide education, seek resources at the unit/department level, and delegate appropriate tasks. The RN, using specialized knowledge, can perform the activities of administration, supervision, delegation and evaluation of nursing practice. The responsibility cannot be avoided by accepting the orders or direction of others. This position requires substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill based upon the principles of biological, physiological, behavioral and sociological sciences, and requires critical thinking skills in making decisions regarding patient care, which includes knowledge and integration of relevant standards, resources, and data. The RN has continuous contact with physicians, patients, patient families/significant others, community agencies, patient care staff, and management.

 

The Clinical Concierge License Practical Nurse will assist provider and other clinical staff with obtaining basic vital information, preparing patient for examination, treatment, and minor surgical procedures. Administer medication, other treatments, and injections as ordered by provider. Tracking and follow-up on patient testing related to disease process management, schedule referrals, answer phone calls and take appropriate messages, and appropriate documentation in electronic medical record. Perform phlebotomy and lab testing as needed. Assist and perform other procedures, including EKG. Perform all x-ray examinations, within scope of limited radiology tech certification, as ordered by provider.

 

The Clinical Concierge CMA is responsible for assisting the provider with front office and back office duties in the outpatient management of patients and completing or assisting with front office duties on a rotating basis. This position is a vital part of the office team that cares for patients in the clinic setting working under the direction of a physician. This position works closely with the physicians, other clinical staff, and front office staff. Work situations are a variety of clinical functions within a clinic setting requiring knowledge and integration of available standards, resources, and data; discretion; good judgment; diplomacy; decision making; and a customer service attitude. Acting as the patient advocate the Clinical Concierge has continuous contact with physicians, patients, patient families/ significant others, community agencies, and patient care staff and management.

 

Qualifications

RN:

Must have an active RN license to practice in the state of Iowa. The position requires at least an Associate's degree in nursing. RN employees are required to have or obtain a BSN within five years after their start date with UnityPoint Health - Dubuque.

 

LPN:                

Must be a graduate of an accredited program for Licensed Practical Nurses. Current license to practice in the State of Iowa for Licensed Practical Nurse .

 

CMA: 

Must have a Medical assistant education from an accredited training program with AAMA or NCMA certification required.

 

Previous experience in a clinic setting is preferred, but not required.
