Holy Family Catholic Schools is seeking a School Social Worker to support students and their families at the Holy Ghost Elementary School location. This is a part-time, 20 hour per week, grant-funded position for the 2018-2019 school year.
Qualified candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Social Work from a four-year college or university. Previous social work/school social work experience is preferred.
Essential job duties for this position include the following items:
Related Services: Working with those problems in a child's living situation that affect children's adjustment in school; counseling students and their parents; mobilizing family, school and community resources to enable children to learn as effectively as possible; assisting parents in developing positive behavioral intervention strategies.
Services to Students: Providing crisis intervention; developing intervention strategies to increase academic success; assisting with conflict resolution and anger management; helping children to develop appropriate social interaction skills; assisting children in understanding and accepting themselves and others.
Services to Parents/Families: Working with parents to facilitate their support of their children's school adjustment, including school attendance; alleviating family stress to enable children to function more effectively in school and community; assisting parents in accessing and utilizing school and community resources.
Services to School Personnel: Providing staff with essential information to better understand factors affecting a student's performance and behavior; assessing students with mental health concerns; developing and delivering staff professional development; assisting teachers with behavior management; providing direct support to staff.
School-Community Liaison: Obtaining and coordinating community resources to meet students' needs; helping the school obtain adequate support from social and mental health agencies; advocating for new and improved community/school service to meet the needs of students and families; helping the system respond effectively to each child's needs.
Services to the School: Identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect; providing case management for students and families requiring multiple resources.
