Title: Product Engineering Part Time Student - Dubuque, IA - 50751

Your Responsibilities

  • John Deere Construction and Forestry, located in Dubuque, IA is seeking a Part-time student programmer to work side by side with experienced engineers in the Virtual Reality lab.
  • This person will modify existing software, write new software, work with VR equipment, and build geometry models for VR.
  • They will also participate in evaluation of VR display technologies and software such as HTC Vive, Unity, Unreal, and VRED.
  • Virtual Reality skills can be learned on the job if the candidate has programming experience. 

What It Takes

  • Proficient in one programming language and willing to learn others (we use C++, C#, Python, and TCL).
  • Pursuing a four-year degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a local university
  • Must be able to commute to Dubuque, IA
  • Graduation date of May 2021 or later 
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
  • 16 - 20 hours/week during the academic year
  • 35 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester

A strong candidate will also have

  • Experience with electronics (Arduino, circuits, soldering, etc)
  • Some knowledge of heavy equipment (AG, Construction, Forestry)
  • Experience with CAD software and/or 3D printing
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • Be self-motivated
  • The ability to learn new things independently
