The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Office of the Registrar is seeking applicants for a Student Status Examiner Associate to oversee of the Degree Audit function, review and maintain student records; provide guidance to Office of the Registrar staff and serves as a source of information and liaison to all departments, chairs, and advisors concerning degree requirements and student degree completion. This is a full-time position that offers excellent employee benefits. A six-month probationary period is required.


The primary functions of the position are to perform degree audits, advise students or academic advisors on degree requirements/progress, and review and maintain student records.

  • Maintain Academic Requirement Report
  • Maintain accurate requirements for all majors and minors
  • Provide consultation to students and academic advisors regarding degree evaluation/progress and university requirements and procedures
  • Ensure degree requirement changes are communicated appropriately
  • Perform final grades, honors and graduation checks
  • Provide consultation to students regarding university academic clemency and academic standing/dismissal policies

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma and 3 years of relevant work experience (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree may substitute for years of experience)
  • Desire to learn and understand database systems
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers and current software applications (e.g Microsoft Office suite)
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels and be a positive contributor to a team environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interpret complex policies and procedures
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Experience working in a Registrar's Office or Student Services in Higher Education
  • Knowledge of university academic structure and basic concepts of student degree requirements
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while working with sensitive information
  • Experience with a Student Information Systems (e.g. PeopleSoft).
