Library Specialist

Northeast Iowa Community College, Peosta, IA

Acquire skills and train on database & catalog administration modules
Establish & maintain online access to electronic resources licensed by NICC library.

Assist with library resource database licensing & authentication.

Communicate with database vendors and patrons as needed to resolve access issues.

Collaborate with other NICC departments to ensure the smooth development & implementation of electronic resource workflows.

Participate in planning and implementing new resources, improvement of existing services, and other related projects.

Assist in management of existing library website and continued development of supplemental web presence using library software (SpringShare “LibGuides”) .

Assist NICC Computer Information Services department in the maintenance and monitoring of library’s computer and networked equipment.

Conduct research and analysis, and be aware of products, aggregators, and services that may impact library digital and print resources.

Experience with Web Application Programing Languages Such as PHP, ASP, .NET, C#, C, C++, Java, Objective C, Python, Ruby, or Cold Fusion, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Gather & compile library database, catalog, and digital resource statistics and related reports on library resources, services and operations.

 

Bachelors Degree with library experience preferred, or an Associate Degree or equivalent with at least three years of library experience, or equivalent.

Experience with Web Application Programing Languages Such as PHP, ASP, .NET, C#, C, C++, Java, Objective C, Python, Ruby, or Cold Fusion, HTML, CSS, & JavaScript. Ability to learn, use and troubleshoot multiple library computer technologies and proprietary software. Ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities in an organized manner and establish priorities. Ability to related to internal and external constituents in a service-orientated and professional manner. Excellent communication skills. Demonstrates a commitment to equity, inclusion, and respectful interactions with persons of diverse ethnic, cultural, social-economic, or educational backgrounds. This position may include evening and weekend (Saturdays) hours.
