Director - Preschool And Child Care

The person selected for this position will be responsible for the general supervision and management of the child care center and preschool.  

Compensation package commensurate with experience and qualifications. 


The person selected for this position must

  • Be professionally prepared as a teacher of young children

  • Meet State requirements for the director of a State funded pre-school and child care center

  • Be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults

  • Have the personality and ability to provide leadership and stability for program continuity

  • Be a spiritual leader of the preschool creating a Christian learning experience to preschool and child care children.


Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Maintain Positive Contact with Students and Families

  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well being of the children at all times

  • Treat each child, parent, and staff with dignity and respect

  • Handle discipline promptly and in accordance with State policy on discipline

  • Respect confidentiality of children, parents, and staff

  • Write newsletter for Noah’s Ark families

  • Be responsible for pre-registration, registrations, open houses, orientations, family activity evenings or days, and all other special events

  • Ensure special activity evenings for children and families are planned, such as: Ice Cream Social, Thanksgiving Program, Christmas Program, End of the Year Celebration

Lead Staff

  • Oversee teacher implementation of the daily program according to the policies and philosophy of the school

  • Ensure appropriate arrangement, appearance, decor, and learning environment of the classroom

  • Supervise teaching staff and ensure smooth coordination of all classroom activities and staff and student interrelationships

  • Lead decision making process, and work in a positive manner to put decisions into effect

  • Make decisions calmly, objectively, and in a timely manner, using common sense and experience

  • Plan and run staff meetings regularly

  • Cover classes for staff as needed ensuring staff and child ratios are met

  • Schedule staff maintaining proper staff to child ratios

  • Review student assessments and monitor growth

  • Work closely with staff to ensure the needs of all students are being met

  • Lead curriculum development and oversee that the curriculum is being taught

Communicate with HTLC and the Board

  • Attend Noah’s Ark board meetings monthly and provide a director’s report

  • Attend church staff meetings

  • Write Noah’s Ark article for Tidings monthly

  • Maintain communication between HTLC, Noah’s Ark Advisory Board, and Noah’s Ark staff

Meet State Regulations

  • Monitor staff certification requirements and maintain staff files

  • Monitor any district, State or federally required accountability documentation

  • Staff the preschool with competent teachers, assistants, and volunteers consistent with licensure requirements per church policy and board approval

  • Maintain records on each child enrolled in the preschool

  • Develop and maintain evaluation procedures to measure effectiveness of the program and staff

  • Prepare and manage the budget with the board for the preschool

  • Plan and implement child care contracts and billing

  • Collect and enforce all tuition late fees and fines

  • Deposit tuition and monies

  • Plan, communicate, and distribute snack and lunch schedules

  • Carry out fire, tornado, and safety drills as required by the State

  • Conduct monthly checks of the building and playground as required by the State

  • Prepare handbook and go over licensing rules


  • Explain the program to visitors, give building tours, and build full enrollment of classes

  • Update Noah’s Ark social media

  • Be a representative of the school

  • Plan and lead public relations events sponsored by the school, such as giving tree and annual fundraiser

  • Be committed to work with the board to expand the program and recruit new families

  • Recommend and participate in public events where appropriate to advertise our school
