Mercy Medical Center is a not for profit Catholic hospital serving the tri-state area of Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin since 1879. Mercy – Dubuque has 263 beds while Mercy – Dyersville is a critical access hospital with 25 beds and a 40-bed nursing home.

Position Hours: 7a-3:30pm, with every other weekend
Assists the Supervisor in coordinating Security Department services throughout the campus. Assures that staff and non-payroll resources are utilized in a cost effective, productive manner and that services are high quality and customer-focused. Will provide assistance and support to the Supervisor in maintaining department’s operating budget, developing goals and objectives and ensuring that services are provided in a manner consistent with the mission and philosophy of Mercy Medical Center.
According to prescribed procedures, patrols various areas of the Hospital facilities and grounds and acts to deter loss of hospital, associate, patient and visitor property, by intercepting unauthorized individuals and investigating unusual incidents. Assists to maintain order as needed. While on patrol, examines doors, windows and gates to ensure they are secure, inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred and reports all irregularities.
High school graduate or GED required. Must be able to read and write English and perform basic mathematical calculations. Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or 2 – 4 years of previous related experience preferred. Previous experience required in private security, public law enforcement, or military duty. Some on-the-job training will be provided. Driving is a requirement. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance must be maintained throughout employment. Must be able to demonstrate a good driving record verifiable with the DMV in the applicant’s state of residence. Demonstrates general working knowledge of computers and department specific software (i.e. HealthStream, Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, GroupWise; internet/intranet; work order system; and building maintenance software such as Siemens Software.
